The Elvis Trail
To mark the 75th anniversary of the birth of Elvis Presley,
Michael Freedland travelled to America to make a radio programme showing
a different side to the king of rock 'n' roll. He interviewed only
people who really knew Elvis; not celebrities, but those who remembered
the singer when he was at school and before. He spoke to people who knew
him mid-career and at it's end, right up to his death at the age of 42.
It was a journey that took him to Tupelo, Memphis, Las Vegas, Los
